Penn State Harrisburg recently presented Alumni Achievement Awards to one graduate of each of the five academic schools who demonstrates outstanding professional accomplishment. The awards were presented during a ceremony on campus in September 2019.

Students lend expertise to help address affordable housing in Harrisburg

Affordable housing is a hot topic among Harrisburg city officials, as developers often prefer to build new homes for high end buyers. Nine Penn State Harrisburg students in Jane Beckett-Camarata's master's level capstone course in public administration at Penn State Harrisburg presented their research on the issue to the Harrisburg City Council twice this spring and participated in a wide-ranging affordable housing panel discussion in the city.

Research opportunity in Turkey gives student a firsthand look at refugee plight

The Syrian refugee crisis was just beginning in 2012 when, on a whim, Lydia Williams she picked up a book called “The Syrian Rebellion” by Fouad Ajami. It changed her life. Now a senior political science major at Penn State Harrisburg, Williams traveled to Turkey this year to study the plight of the refugees through the Turkish Heritage Organization Summer Research Program.
