Outstanding student projects were recognized during the recent Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering, and Technology Capstone Design Conference. The virtual conference was the culmination of students’ undergraduate studies and provided the opportunity to combine classroom learning with real-life applications and collaborate with industry sponsors.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration and School of Science, Engineering, and Technology recently inducted 15 students into the college’s newly chartered Upsilon Pi Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Pennsylvania.
A recent survey conducted by the Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg’s Institute of State and Regional Affairs has found that many Pennsylvanians are “vaccine hesitant” — indicating that they probably or definitely will not receive the coronavirus vaccine. Vaccine hesitancy varied by several key demographics, including race, age and region. Addressing these differences may be crucial for the next stage of the commonwealth’s vaccination effort.
Shaun Gabbidon, distinguished professor of criminal justice in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, has been named a Distinguished Alumnus by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an honor bestowed upon fewer than 400 of its more than 150,000 alumni. Gabbidon received his doctoral degree in criminology in 1996.
Six Penn State Harrisburg students received University Libraries research awards and two received research award honorable mentions as part of the recent Penn State Harrisburg Library virtual Research Poster Exhibition. Fifteen students participated in the event.

The winning writers of Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “A Night at the Circus” spring 2021 contest have been announced. Representing five Penn State campuses, the latest writing contest encouraged students, faculty and staff across the commonwealth to submit their best circus-themed creative writing in the form of short stories or poetry.
Penn State Harrisburg recently recognized outstanding employee contributions at the virtual 2021 Faculty and Staff Recognition Program. Nominated by the college community and selected by various award committees, several faculty and staff members received awards.
