A team of Penn State Harrisburg researchers has received a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to provide scholarships and mentoring support for 30 academically talented students with financial need to help them graduate with a degree and be successfully prepared for a career in a STEM field.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology will present a Lightning Round Seminar Series to promote research and discovery and grow collaborations among faculty. Shirley Clark, professor of environmental engineering in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology, and Erin Letavic, a 2011 graduate of the master of environmental engineering program at Penn State Harrisburg, have been appointed by Gov. Tom Wolf as the Pennsylvania representatives to the Chesapeake Bay Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee.
Hung Nguyen, a graduate student attending Penn State World Campus and graduating with a master’s of engineering degree in electrical engineering, said that concluding his degree will be a huge milestone for him.
Penn State Harrisburg has selected six graduates to serve as student marshals at the fall 2021 commencement ceremony. The graduates will bear the banners representing each academic school and, together with the faculty marshals, lead the graduating students during the ceremony processional.
Penn State Harrisburg will hold its fall 2021 commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Michael Sullivan, a retired senior executive with Pepco Holdings (now part of Exelon) in Washington, D.C. will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.
Linda Null, associate professor of computer science at Penn State Harrisburg, was named a finalist for the Moxie Award at the 2021 Women in Technology Awards, hosted by the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania in September.
