Affleck, Blum, Nicholas named 2019 Penn State Teaching Fellows

John Affleck, Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and Society in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications; Jeremy Blum, associate professor of computer science at Penn State Harrisburg; and Cheryl L. Nicholas, associate professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State Berks, have received Penn State's Alumni/Student Award for Excellence in Teaching and have been named 2019 Penn State Teaching Fellows.

Penn State Harrisburg holds first Three Minute Thesis competition

For the first time, Penn State Harrisburg participated in the Three Minute Thesis competition, which celebrates research conducted by graduate students. More than 200 universities participate in the annual competition, which was developed by the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, to cultivate students’ academic, presentation and research communication skills.

Research examines stream restorations with an eye on improving Chesapeake Bay

Jennifer Sliko, assistant teaching professor of earth and geosciences in the Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, and colleague Shirley Clark, professor of environmental engineering, are leading a group of undergraduate and graduate students to study the impact of stream restorations on the Chesapeake Bay, the world’s largest estuary and a major fishery and ecological resource.
