University Libraries to observe World Standards Week with Oct. 12 event

In observance of the American National Standard Institute’s World Standards Week in October, Penn State University Libraries is planning an afternoon of activities Oct. 12 with the theme “Imagine a World Without Standards.” The event will focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which project to address social imbalances, develop a sustainable economy and slow the rate of climate change.

Professor awarded NSF grant for research on mercury in the Arctic

Abu Asaduzzaman, assistant professor of chemistry in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology, was awarded a nearly $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Chemistry, to pursue research into the environmental interactions of mercury in the Arctic.

Global Alumni Spotlight: Tawfiq Alashoor

Holding a bachelor's degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq Alashoor was seeking more academically. While researching the best schools to pursue a master’s degree, he constantly found Penn State highly ranked on the lists. This was enough for Alashoor to make Penn State his school of choice, especially as it was a well-known institution back in his home country of Saudi Arabia.
