Penn State Harrisburg has been formally accepted as an active NCAA Division III member effective Sept. 1, 2010. On July 20, the NCAA Division III Management Council accepted its Membership Committee’s recommendation that Penn State Harrisburg be granted active membership status.
Nine middle and high school students from throughout the midstate this week are taking a new summer camp in homeland security and intelligence at Penn State Harrisburg. The camp is among the programs the campus is launching this year through a $1 million federal grant from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Two summer camps at Penn State Harrisburg offer middle and high school students the opportunity to visit the CIA.
The two programs on homeland security and intelligence are part of a federally-funded, security and intelligence initiative at Penn State. The courses, $130 each, are designed for students entering grades 7-10.
Chris Crutcher, author and child protection advocate, will present a Workshop for Educators on Tuesday, July 13, at Penn State Harrisburg. The event, sponsored by The Capital Area Writing Project, will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Morrison Gallery at the college library.

Dr. Omid Ansary, director of Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, has been named interim senior associate dean for academic affairs, effective July 1. He replaces Dr. Mukund Kulkarni, who takes over July 1 as interim chancellor.

The student organization’s fifth annual Boobies Ball recently netted $1,800 for the Middletown-based Feel Your Boobies Foundation which focuses breast cancer awareness efforts on women under the age of 40.
