New certification programs aim to address teacher shortages in Pennsylvania

In an effort to help address teacher shortages in Pennsylvania in critical areas such as special education, English, social studies and math, Penn State Harrisburg’s Teacher Education Program is offering post-baccalaureate certification for individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree and want to become certified to teach in the commonwealth.

Elizabeth Tisdell named distinguished professor

Elizabeth Tisdell, professor of lifelong learning and adult education, has been named a distinguished professor by the Penn State Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. She is one of 13 faculty University-wide named as a distinguished professor for 2021.

Conference to highlight Latinx/a/o faculty development and academic leadership

Penn State Harrisburg will host a virtual Latinx/a/o faculty development and academic leadership conference from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Friday, April 9. The event is intended to foster the hiring and promotion of Latinx/a/o faculty and leaders at Penn State and is open to faculty and staff across the University, including Commonwealth Campuses.

Inaugural EAGER program grant recipients announced at Penn State Harrisburg

The Office of Research and Outreach at Penn State Harrisburg has announced six inaugural research seed grant proposals to be funded through the college’s new Exploration and Analysis Grants for Expanded Research [EAGER] program. The goal of the program is to provide support for full-time Penn State Harrisburg faculty members to pursue external research funding opportunities.

Penn State Harrisburg to hold Faculty Research Day

The Office of Research and Outreach at Penn State Harrisburg will hold Faculty Research Day from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. via Zoom. Ann M. Schlenker, director of the Center for Transportation Research at Argonne National Laboratory, will deliver the keynote address.
