Residence Life at Penn State Harrisburg encompasses more than just the residential facilities. Included in the concept is a human services component—the personal advice and guidance, programs and special services designed to enhance the out-of-classroom experience.
Our staff strives to provide and maintain a living environment that will enhance the personal, physical, educational and social development of campus residents. The Residence Life staff is made up of the Assistant Director, Residence Life Coordinators, and Resident Assistants (RAs). The staff is knowledgeable of campus services and resources and is available to direct residents to the appropriate office or service on campus as needed.
Training, cooperation, and collaboration with members of the campus community help the staff of Residence Life meet the needs of campus residents while serving as resource personnel and as programmers of events and activities.
The Assistant Director and Residence Life Coordinators reside on campus and are available to provide assistance whenever the need arises. Resident Assistants are student staff who are appointed by the Office of Residence Life as its representatives in the residential community and are assigned to specific areas of the community to assure that residents receive personal attention. The RAs are trained in many areas to increase their skills in the various roles that they fulfill, including serving as builders of community, policy enforcers, advisers, informational resources, crisis managers, and programmers of events and activities.
