SAT prep course offered to local high school students

Getting  Ready for the SAT Exam®, open to students in grades 9 through 12, will be held June 23 through 27 and August 4 through 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Penn State Harrisburg.

The course is designed to teach students how to effectively apply new strategies to prepare for the comprehensive SAT exam.  Students will learn strategic approaches for the critical reading, writing, and math sections through a combination of lecture, interactive class discussion, and engaging activities.

The instructors for the sessions include:

  • Angel Kelton, reading and writing instruction -- Kelton teaches high school where she has created a curriculum for study skills and preparation for the SAT and standardized testing. She holds a master’s degree in language and literacy. 
  • Steven Sturgis, math instruction -- Sturgis is a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  He is an industrial engineer, retired from M&M/Mars. He currently works as a math tutor at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
