9/22: COVID-19 dashboard updated with preliminary results from weekend testing

Penn State has updated its public COVID-19 dashboard with the University's on-demand testing and random testing results from tests administered during the period of Sept. 18 to 20, as well as new University testing results from the prior week. These numbers are evolving as many test results are still pending, which will then be validated and uploaded.

Penn State Harrisburg alumnus Steven Overly and his wife, Donna, have made a $7.3 million estate commitment to Penn State that will establish the Overly Scholars Program at Penn State Harrisburg and in the Schreyer Honors College, creating full-tuition scholarships and enhanced educational experiences for high-achieving students.

Expert panel to discuss Pennsylvania's election law

Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs will host a panel discussion on the ongoing debates around Pennsylvania’s election law and potential vulnerabilities and consequences of those vulnerabilities heading into the 2020 presidential election. The discussion will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Sept. 29 via Zoom.

9/25: Penn State COVID-19 dashboard updated

Penn State released its preliminary coronavirus testing results for the period of Sept. 18 to 24 on its COVID-19 dashboard today (Sept. 25). Among students tested at the University Park campus whose test results have been received, Penn State received 418 positive results from its on-demand testing and 19 positive results from its random testing program.

Faculty book highlights the dark side of organized labor

“Murder in the Garment District: The Grip of Organized Crime and the Decline of Labor in the United States,” a new book by Penn State Harrisburg faculty Catherine Rios, associate professor of humanities and communications, and David Witwer, professor of history and American studies, delves into corruption, coercion and crime and its effects on American organized labor, as well as the country’s complicated relationship with organized labor.

Spring 2021 plans announced, giving students, faculty and staff time to prepare

Plans for Penn State’s Spring 2021 semester, announced Oct. 4, include a later start in January; continuation of the current flexible instructional modes, including in-person; the elimination of spring break; and completion of instruction for all undergraduate and graduate students by April 30. The University will maintain its observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day on Jan. 18 for students and faculty, when no classes will be held and Dr. King’s legacy will be celebrated through a number of virtual events.
