James Franklin, Penn State head football coach, will deliver the keynote address at Penn State Harrisburg’s spring commencement Saturday, May 6. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the college will confer nearly 700 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the Hershey Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Eleven students from the Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration were recently inducted into Mu Kappa Tau, a national honor society that recognizes top students that are majoring in marketing.
Students in Penn State Harrisburg’s Cyber Lions club, a student-run organization that focuses on extending information systems technology and security and risk analysis education beyond the classroom, attended the SANS Security East Conference early this semester in New Orleans, Louisiana. The group, which included Edward Corbett; Katlynn Lenker; Jared Trigilli; Gunther Gochenauer; and Jayson Coulter, gained valuable knowledge and trained alongside experienced professionals.
This spring Penn State expects to award 13,894 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 226 associate, 11,435 baccalaureate, 1,590 master’s, 262 law, 244 doctoral and 137 medical degrees. The Integrative Studies Seed Grant Program, offered through the Penn State Office for General Education, will support 71 different course development projects this summer. In response to the large volume of highly qualified proposals, the budget was generously increased by more than 50 percent by the Office of the Provost and the Office of Undergraduate Education.
Two Penn State Harrisburg programs have been named in the U.S. News and World Report list of top graduate schools for 2018. The MBA offered in the School of Business Administration has been included in the publication’s part-time MBA list and degrees in education offered in the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education have been named on the publication’s list of schools of education that offer a doctorate.
Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas P. Jones presented 10 awards to more than 30 graduate students in recognition of outstanding achievement during the annual Graduate Student Awards Luncheon held April 18 at the Nittany Lion Inn.
