Albert "Bert" Evans, chair of Evans Delivery Company Inc. in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, has made a commitment of $100,000 to establish the Bert and Josette Evans Internship Fund to support students in the applied behavior analysis program at Penn State Harrisburg.
In a continuation of its longtime partnership with Penn State, Barnes & Noble College, a Barnes & Noble Education company, which operates the Penn State Bookstore, has awarded a 2022-23 round of grants to support a range of programs and initiatives across the University.
Penn State Harrisburg has raised $44.9 million and helped the University to achieve record-breaking success in its recently concluded campaign, “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence.” June 30 marked the end of both the most successful campaign and the most successful fundraising year in the institution’s history.
Hundreds of students have benefited to date from scholarships created by alumni and friends during the University’s recently concluded campaign, “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence.” Structured around the three key imperatives of a modern land-grant institution, the campaign’s top priority was opening the doors of higher education to students from every background, and Penn State donors rose to the challenge, creating a total of 2,045 new scholarship endowments — an increase of more than 35% over the course of the six-year effort.
A Penn State team led by Hessam Taherian, assistant teaching professor in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology was one of 14 collegiate institution teams from across the globe awarded $50,000 in prize funding to build and exhibit a groundbreaking, zero-energy building next spring. The team will compete for contest and grand prizes in April 2023.
As Penn State celebrates the success of its current fundraising campaign, “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence,” Penn State Harrisburg is recognizing the thousands of donors who have supported its students and programs since the effort began in 2016.
On March 24, Penn State honored recently retired Senior Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor Madlyn Hanes at a naming ceremony for the Madlyn L. Hanes Library at Penn State Harrisburg.
With a $50,000 gift, Terry Davis and his wife, Marsha, have created the Terry L. Davis Criminal Justice Scholarship, the first endowed undergraduate scholarship for students studying criminal justice in the School of Public Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg.
