Penn State Harrisburg to host annual MATHCOUNTS event

Students from 18 area middle schools will gather at Penn State Harrisburg’s Capital Union Building for the 31st annual MATHCOUNTS competition on Saturday, February 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A nationwide program that involves more than 500,000 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students, MATHCOUNTS is designed to build mathematics skills, promote strategic problem solving, and instruct students in dealing with complex problems.

Illustrated by vacant, decaying buildings, blight is a crisis facing many communities – forgotten structures that pose serious safety and health risks, diminish the value of surrounding homes and businesses, and create a haven for criminal activity.

Graduate School Open House February 5

Penn State Harrisburg will hold a Graduate School Open House on Thursday, February 5 at 6 p.m. in the campus library.

The open house will offer the opportunity to learn about the college’s more than 30 master’s, doctoral, and certification programs; meet with faculty; and obtain admissions and financial aid information. RSVP preferred, but not required.
