Three Penn State Harrisburg students were nominated for the PennACE JoAnne Day Student of the Year Intern award.
With the award, PennACE recognizes the achievements and contributions made by undergraduate students enrolled at member institutions who have completed an internship or co-op assignment. The award honors a career development professional in four categories, including:
Dr. Heidi Pierce, instructor in English composition in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, will present “Politicizing the Arts and Crafts Movement: Mary De Morgan’s ‘Bread of Discontent’” on Wednesday, January 28, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.
Dr. Beverly Cigler, professor of public policy and administration in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs has become the college’s third scholar to be named distinguished professor by the Penn State Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.

In honor of the Martin Luther King national holiday, Penn State Harrisburg and PenOwl Productions will present the 17th annual MLK play in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King and his legacy of diversity and inclusion. This year’s original play is titled “Rizo,” Portuguese for laughter. The play centers on the life of Joseph Mendes, a Cape Verdean storyteller who shares folktales from the old country.
Dr. Jennifer Gibbs, assistant professor of criminal justice in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs will present a discussion on criminological explanations for terrorist attacks and what countries can do to reduce them on Wednesday, January 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.
