Workshop: Safety Considerations for Designing and Running a Makerspace or STEM Lab
Offered in collaboration with Intermediate Unit 13 at the IU13 Conference and Training Center in Lancaster, PA
Teacher Workshops on February 4, 2020 from 8:30-11:30am
Administrator/Supervisor Workshops on February 4, 2020 from 12:30-3:30pm
Participants will receive:
- 1 copy of the ITEEA and NSTA recommended book Safer Makerspaces, Fab Labs and STEM Labs: A Collaborative Guide!
- A classroom set of safety glasses or goggles. *Limited to public school teachers/administrators only
- 3 Act 48 hours
- A non-credit continuing education course certificate from Penn State Harrisburg

Workshop: Using the Raspberry Pi for Smart Home Applications
Dates: March 4 and May 13, 2020 (2 sessions, must attend both)
Time: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m
Location: Penn State Harrisburg
Presenter: Jigar Patel, STEM Specialist at Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11
Limited to 20 schools. Each school should attend in a team consisting of 2 STEM teachers from grades 7-12 (recommended 1 computer science teacher and 1 technology/engineering teacher).
Each school will receive one Raspberry Pi and various sensors to construct a model smart home (only PA public schools are eligible to receive these free materials).
Eligible for 10 Act 48 Continuing Professional Education hours.
Receive a continuing education non-credit course certificate from Penn State Harrisburg.
