Academic Learning Center (ALC)
At the heart of Penn State Harrisburg’s new southern quad, the Academic Learning Center (ALC) will create a dynamic space for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. Adjacent to the Madlyn Hanes Library and the Student Enrichment Center, this new 47,000-square-foot, two-story building will anchor the end of the campus’s academic core.
The ALC will include:
- 4 classrooms with 60 seats each
- 4 classrooms with 80 seats each
- 4 classrooms with 120 seats each
- A large creative commons and several breakout areas
The building will also house a new central chiller plant as part of the campus’s long-range plan for efficient cooling, supporting multiple buildings with a sustainable chilled water utility service.
Project budget: $48 million
Anticipated completion: Fall 2026
The ALC is designed to be a hub for Penn State Harrisburg’s teaching, research, and service priorities, offering technologically rich classrooms and flexible spaces for hands-on, interactive learning across disciplines.
