The post-baccalaureate certification program in Secondary Education Social Studies is designed for individuals who:
• possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, and
• want to teach Social Studies (7-12) in Pennsylvania.
Students who successfully complete the program requirements will be recommended for certification as a Secondary Social Studies Instructional I teacher.
The program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS).
An M.Ed. degree in Teaching and Curriculum may be attained after certification coursework has been completed. Students may apply 12 credits of their certification courses toward the Master of Education degree in Teaching and Curriculum.
