Penn State is moving toward a University-wide health insurance requirement for the 2018-19 academic school year. In preparation for the new requirement, University Health Services (UHS) will begin collecting student health insurance information in May 2017.
This spring Penn State expects to award 13,894 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 226 associate, 11,435 baccalaureate, 1,590 master’s, 262 law, 244 doctoral and 137 medical degrees. Penn State’s overall enrollment saw a small increase in the past year, as the number of students at University Park, several Commonwealth Campuses, the law schools and World Campus increased slightly, according to the annual snapshot.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs will host a pre-election panel from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Olmsted Building's Gallery Lounge on campus. The panelists will discuss topics related to immigration, leadership capacity, minimum wage and racial issues within policing. The discussion will be moderated by Anne Douds, lecturer in criminal justice.
Students who are new to Penn State and all students living in University housing are reminded that they must submit their immunization records using myUHS through a new three-step process. As part of this process, students who do not submit their immunization records prior to Sept. 15 will be unable to register for spring 2017 classes.
Penn State is marking Sexual Assault Awareness month this April with a range of events and initiatives across the Commonwealth that offer educational opportunities, focus attention on the issue and bring the community together to stop sexual misconduct.

More than 350 buildings on campus are connected to and controlled by a building automation system, which uses a secure computer network to centralize the remote monitoring and control of electricity, lighting, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning and other environmental systems. Many Penn State campuses across the state, including Harrisburg, Altoona and Erie, The Behrend College, also use digital automation systems for managing building settings.
As part of Penn State’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about sexual violence, the University is marking Sexual Assault Awareness month in April, with events slated to take place at campuses across the Commonwealth. Those events include lectures, film screenings, self-defense training, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” events and other educational programs.
