Two members of the Harlem Globetrotters visited the Penn State Harrisburg gym recently to practice the team’s new shot – the four-pointer –and to meet with local media.
The new shot is the latest trick for the Harlem Globetrotters, the traveling basketball team known for its combination of athleticism and comedy. During the practice routine, several Penn State Harrisburg students also tried the shot. The visit to campus was shown on a segment of CBS 21’s evening news with reporter Jason Bristol.
Marked 35 feet from the basket – 12 feet away from the NBA’s three-point line – the four-point shot only counts in the last three minutes of each quarter. The Globetrotters had already made the shot in several previous games and were practicing for two Hershey performances. "It's a heave, but we're the Globetrotters and we can do it,” said Shane "Scooter" Christensen, a guard from the University of Montana.
