Electrical engineering and electrical engineering technology students from Penn State Harrisburg received two awards in the annual Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 2 Student Activities Conference, hosted by West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, April 5 through 7.
Taking first place honors for Penn State Harrisburg in the Brown Bag II (Analog Circuit Design) Competition were Ira Matthews, Ron Schaeffer, Zach Snyder, and Ryan Thompson. In the competition, students are given a bag of higher level circuit components and advanced tasks to complete using the given materials, power supplies, and multimeters.
In addition, Penn State Harrisburg’s IEEE Student Branch received an award for exemplary performance for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Twenty-five colleges and universities from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia competed in ten categories.
A student organized event, the conference hosts IEEE members from all over the region to compete, learn from industry experts, and build memorable experiences with students in the electrical and electronic fields.
