New English honor society at Penn State Harrisburg

Penn State Harrisburg’s new chapter of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, inducted its first members on April 14. Twenty English majors with a GPA of 3.00 or better in their English courses were welcomed into the society.

Police report nonspecific bomb threat

Penn State Harrisburg police report receiving an unspecified, non-specific bomb threat, stating, "Bomb on campus 6:00." University Police do not believe this threat to be credible but are conducting cursory searches of campus buildings.

Members of the College community are asked to use caution and report any suspicious activity or devices they may find by calling 9-1-1.

Faculty and staff recognized at awards ceremony - 2014

Penn State Harrisburg recognized outstanding employee contributions at the 2014 Faculty and Staff Recognition Program on March 27.  Nominated by the college community and selected by various award committees, several faculty and staff members received awards. 

SAT prep course offered to local high school students

Getting  Ready for the SAT Exam®, open to students in grades 9 through 12, will be held June 23 through 27 and August 4 through 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Penn State Harrisburg.

The course is designed to teach students how to effectively apply new strategies to prepare for the comprehensive SAT exam.  Students will learn strategic approaches for the critical reading, writing, and math sections through a combination of lecture, interactive class discussion, and engaging activities.

Pavel Sládek to present on early-modern ethnographies of Jews

Penn State Harrisburg will welcome scholar Pavel Sládek to campus for a lecture on early-modern Jewish ethnography on Wednesday, April 23 at noon in the campus library Morrison Gallery.

His work analyzes an unknown manuscript ethnography of Jews by the Catholic priest Karel Jugl and examines the functions of authenticity in this and other Early-Modern Jewish ethnographies.
