We’re excited you’ll be joining the Penn State Harrisburg community! We’ve got a great NSO planned for you and your parents, family, and guests.
Your NSO will be hybrid, with a full-day in-person program and a one-on-one Zoom meeting with an adviser.
During NSO, you’ll meet new people, learn about majors and careers, explore opportunities on campus, and meet with an adviser and schedule classes. Your family will explore how to support you, meet people from a variety of offices around campus, and learn about academic programs. Lunch is included in all in-person NSO programs.
Your Next Steps
- If you’ve just been accepted to Penn State, congratulations! Be sure to accept your admission offer.
- Check your email regularly.
We’ll reach out using the email address provided on your admissions application. - Check your NSO Tasklist in March.
The NSO Tasklist is a comprehensive list of all the action items you must complete before starting at Penn State Harrisburg. Expect an email around mid-March letting you know you have access. - Make your NSO Reservation in April.
You’re required to complete an NSO prior to starting the semester. You are in control of which NSO program you select -- please select one that works for you and your family since 2 guests are welcome to attend the in-person program with you. We recommend attending in June. You will be able to make a reservation on your NSO Tasklist around mid-April and we’ll let you know via email. - Complete your ALEKS Math Assessment prior to your NSO.
If you did not take calculus in high school, an ALEKS score is required to take many math and science classes. Find information on ALEKS on your NSO Tasklist. - Participate in & attend your NSO.
You’ll get more information about your in-person program, and scheduling your advising meeting in advance. Check your email weekly for important information and reminders.
