Penn State Harrisburg recently presented Alumni Achievement Awards to one graduate of each of the five academic schools who demonstrates outstanding professional accomplishment. The awards, bestowed during the Alumni Awards Dinner on October 16, honor a diverse collection of talents and accomplishments from across the college.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology recently secured a $448,000 Major Research Instrumentation grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The funding will be used to purchase a bit error ratio tester that will support the ongoing research activities of the college’s Center for Signal Integrity.
The Olmsted parking lot lights had an unforeseen electrical malfunction last week for which repairs are ongoing this week.
Supplemental lighting will be utilized at the Olmsted parking lot for the duration of the repairs. University Police also will be conducting extra patrols of the Olmsted parking lot until repairs are completed.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Starting at sunrise on Thursday, Oct. 23, a 24-hour social media campaign will chronicle a day in the life of Penn State. Dubbed #PSU24, the campaign seeks to showcase the many moments and experiences that make up a day at Penn State, on campuses around Pennsylvania and at locations around the world.
Penn State Harrisburg’s bookstore has temporarily relocated to the former classroom trailers just outside the eastern end of the Olmsted Building. The move is in preparation for the eventual construction of the Student Enrichment Center, where the bookstore will be permanently located.
As part of Penn State Harrisburg’s Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies speaker series, Liron Unreich, co-founder and director of The Ripple Project, will screen films from "Generations of the Shoah," a documentary series focusing on the multi-generational effects of the Holocaust, on Wednesday, October 22 at noon in the Capital Union Building Quiet Study, and 7 p.m.
Penn State Harrisburg will present “The Changing Perspectives on the Legalization of Marijuana: Exploring the Impacts on Society,” a discussion panel focusing on marijuana legalization, on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. in the Capital Union Building Student Center on campus.
Dr. Raymond Gibney Jr., associate professor of management in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration, will present “A Social Exchange Perspective on Student Retention and University Support Intentions” on Wednesday, October 22 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.
Penn State Harrisburg will host an Undergraduate Open House on Saturday, October 18 at 9 a.m., in the Capitol Union Building on campus.
The event will present information to prospective students about the college’s more than 30 bachelor’s degree programs and options for completing the first two years of study leading to more than 160 undergraduate majors offered throughout Penn State.
