Geospatial Information Systems Conference May 14, 15

 

Registration is under way for the 16th annual Pennsylvania Geospatial Information Systems Conference at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill May 14 and 15.

An outreach service of Penn State Harrisburg’s Institute of State and Regional Affairs, the conference theme this year is “Sustaining and Leveraging Our Geospatial Investment.”

College hosting Signal Integrity Symposium April 8

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Penn State Harrisburg is hosting the second annual Symposium on Signal Integrity April 8 featuring internationally recognized speakers discussing a range of topics including high-speed connectors and EMC radiation.

2008 Harrisburg Semester registration under way

Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 Harrisburg Semester, a combined summer internship and seminar focused around policymaking in the state capital.

Offered through Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, the Harrisburg semester is available to students throughout the Penn State system.

Undergraduate Programs Open House April 12 at Penn State Harrisburg

Information on the wide selection of undergraduate study opportunities at Penn State Harrisburg will be available when the College hosts an Information Open House beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 12.

Penn State Harrisburg is home to two associate and 31 baccalaureate degrees and the first two years of study leading to more than 160 undergraduate majors available throughout the Penn State system – including 30 of its own.

THON dancers endure pain, exhaustion ‘for the kids’

Can pain, exhaustion, and total fatigue feel good?

Of course. If they come with the exhilaration and jubilation that comes from participating in the annual Penn State Dance Marathon to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund in the fight to combat pediatric cancer.

Just ask the four Penn State Harrisburg students who withstood the 46 hours to dance and even sometimes enjoy what is commonly known as THON!

Popular Latin dance classes return March 30

The popular Sunday Latin dance classes at Penn State Harrisburg are returning Sunday, March 30.

The free lessons, open to the public, have proven to be popular with community residents since their inception three years ago.

Lessons under the direction of Loida Esbri will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on consecutive Sundays through April 20 in the Multipurpose Room of the Capital Union Building on campus.

Students, staff to aid Hurricane Katrina recovery

It began as a grand idea – the prospect of a 90-person camp in Gulfport, Miss., uniting Penn State students from across the Commonwealth around a national cause, Katrina Relief.

This March, the idea comes to fruition when six Penn State Harrisburg students and two staff members will join more than 60 others from the University to help residents clean up and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
