Curriculum

The M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology program at Penn State Harrisburg is a comprehensive program that emphasizes clinical skills, evidence-based practice, experiential learning and small class sizes. The program is 5 semesters (2 years + 1 summer) and a minimum credit requirement of 57 credits. After their first semester of classes, students choose either a Medical or School concentration and take additional coursework in those areas.  These specialty tracks allow students to gain additional knowledge and experience in their chosen area and offers them greater opportunities for employment!

SLP Program Learning Objectives

  • Adhere to the principles and practices of ethical conduct within the profession and their clinical applications.
  • Acquire the knowledge of concepts, theories, and best practices as they pertain to human communication and swallowing disorders
  • Be critical consumers of information and be able to apply that information in a variety of clinical settings across diverse populations.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication while recognizing and respecting the needs and values of diverse populations.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration through interprofessional clinical education and experiences that involve the client, families, and the community.
