Communication Sciences and Disorders

Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is a comprehensive program of study for preparing students who want to become speech-language pathologists (SLPs) or audiologists. The program helps students acquire a strong foundation in the basic sciences and processes related to typical, delayed and disordered speech, language, cognition, swallowing, and hearing.

Communication Sciences and Disorders

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Program at Penn State Harrisburg is proud to offer an undergraduate degree and has applied for candidacy for a graduate degree in speech-language pathology. Both degree programs will offer exceptional learning opportunities through our strong collaborations in the area – particularly with the Penn State College of Medicine and the Department of Otolaryngology at the Hershey Medical Center. Our small class sizes and dedicated faculty allow for personalized learning with a focus on evidence-based practice.

Speech-language pathologists and audiologists help people with a variety of deficits in communication, hearing, balance, and swallowing. Our work has a positive impact on peoples’ lives in so many ways and the career is very rewarding.
