Penn State Harrisburg Drug and Alcohol Counseling

Do you are someone you know have concerns about the use of Alcohol or other drugs? There are various options available: self help resources, brief interventions due to the consequences of alcohol, outpatient treatment, and inpatient treatment facilities. At Penn State Harrisburg, CAPS provides brief interventions and short-term treatment for registered students. Group Support and Recovery on Campus

CAPS clinicians facilitate a once weekly recovery and recovery ally meeting throughout the academic year. This group focuses on providing students a safe environment to have candid discussions and support one another in recovery from all addictive disorders. As a group, we hope to focus our energy in finding ways to connect and to advocate for de-stigmatization of addiction and recovery.

    • Passed out

    • Cold, clammy, and/or bluish skin
    • Slowed breathing-8 or less breaths per minute
    • Vomiting while asleep or awake

    • Intentionally eat food or a meal before drinking
    • Keep track of how many drinks you have had (for example-collect bottle caps).
    • Set a personal limit of how many drinks you will have.
    • Pace your drinking to no more than 1 drink per hour.
    • Intentionally mix drinks with less alcohol than “normal.”
