Penn State Harrisburg hosted its spring 2023 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6, marking the class of 2023’s completion of their academic experience and recognizing their many accomplishments. More than 700 degrees were conferred this semester.

The Pennsylvania State Data Center at the Institute of State and Regional Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg will host the 2023 PA Data User Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, in the Educational Activities Building on campus. The conference is intended for Pennsylvania's data users engaged in applied research and analysis.
Penn State Harrisburg has named six graduates to represent each academic school and graduate studies as student marshals for the spring 2023 commencement ceremony. The graduates will bear the banners representing each academic school and, together with the faculty marshals, lead the graduating students during the commencement processional.
The 19 interdisciplinary research teams that received funding include more than 75 researchers who are affiliated with 10 colleges and research units across seven Penn State campuses.
A new research program for students will be launched this coming fall: The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses Undergraduate Student Research Fund aims to support student-led projects in different fields. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in research, scholarship, and artistic efforts. They will be responsible for creating their own research problems, study proposals, methodologies, and presenting their findings.
Penn State Harrisburg students had the chance to test their engineering skills during the 2023 American Society of Civil Engineers Mid-Atlantic West Student Symposium. The college, along with York College of Pennsylvania, hosted this year’s symposium, which drew students from 11 regional colleges to the Harrisburg campus April 13-15.
Students in Amy Sauertieg’s event planning class spent the spring semester planning and executing a fundraiser as a real-life experience for the course.
Penn State Harrisburg will hold its spring 2023 commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Giant Center in Hershey. Pennsylvania state Rep. Patty Kim will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony. April Demsko, who will receive her bachelor of science degree in marketing at the ceremony, will serve as the student speaker.
More than 175 Penn State graduate students presented their research, art, design or scholarship at the poster and visual arts session of the 2023 Graduate Exhibition. The event allows students to build their communication skills and think about their projects from new perspectives.
