Register today for diversity summit

Register today for the College Student Diversity Summit to be held March 25 in the Penn State Harrisburg Capital Union Building. The registration deadline is March 4; advance registration is required and seating is limited. The event is free for students, faculty, and staff of the sponsoring institutions: Penn State Harrisburg, Messiah College, Harrisburg Area Community College, and the Dauphin County Diversity Forum.

With the high rates of joblessness in the United States, how do graduating students standout during the interview process?  Penn State Harrisburg master of science in Information Systems graduate and Capital BlueCross Chief Information Officer Kent Whiting answered that question during a recent discussion with students about applying for jobs and internships. 

2011 NEAC Men's Basketball Championship Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27

College to host NEAC Men’s Basketball Championship tournament

Penn State Harrisburg will host the 2011 NEAC Men's Basketball Championship Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27.

On Saturday, Feb. 26 at 4:00 p.m., the number-one seeded Lions will play the winner of the Gallaudet University and Morrisville State game, with the Saturday winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 p.m. Penn State Harrisburg sealed the top spot and the opportunity to host the tournament after a win against Keuka College Feb. 20.

Minister, television host and author to speak March 1

Dr. Lance D. Watson, senior pastor of Saint Paul’s Baptist Church of Richmond, Va., and chief visionary for its corporate affiliates, will visit Penn State Harrisburg March 1 to speak as part of the 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Lecture Series.  He will address the series topic, “A Sociocultural Awakening: Rise Up!” at 12:30 p.m. in the Morrison Gallery, Library and at 6:30 p.m. in the Capital Union Building.

Faculty members involve students in community

Faculty members at Penn State Harrisburg are challenging students to make a difference in their community, utilizing service projects and public internships. By incorporating service learning, or community-impacting coursework, into their curriculum, professors promote civic responsibility and provide students with hands-on experience applicable in the workforce.

Pink Zone

Women's basketball to host Pink Zone game Feb. 19

The Penn State Harrisburg women’s basketball team will host a Pink Zone game to benefit the Feel Your Boobies Foundation on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12:00 p.m. versus Wells College. The team encourages all fans to wear pink during the game to support breast cancer awareness.
