A leading figure in the racial justice movement over the last 20 years, Rinku Sen delivered a powerful message during her recent lecture on campus February 22. She urged the audience to help “stop the anti-immigration hate machine” in our country. Kicking-off the college’s 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Lecture Series, Sen’s message addressed the series topic, “A Socio-cultural Awakening: Rise Up!”
E.P. McKnight will bring her acclaimed Broadway-style one-woman play “I Question America: A Legacy of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer” to Penn State Harrisburg Tuesday, March 22 at 12:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge.
The play follows the life of Fannie Lou Hamer, a Civil Rights Movement leader who stood up against racism and the inequalities of her time.

Ruth Ellen Gruber will visit Penn State Harrisburg March 21 to discuss Jewish life in Eastern Europe today. The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Morrison Gallery, Library. Gruber’s exhibit, Remnants and Renaissance: Photographs by Ruth Ellen Gruber of Europe’s Jewish Heartland will be on display through May 1 in the college library’s Schwab Family Holocaust Reading Room.
