Autumn Proctor, a 2012 elementary education graduate, and Maritza Delgado, an elementary education major, have received scholarships and awards from the Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) Educational Foundation.
Recently established programs in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology have joined all other engineering and engineering technology programs at the school in receiving accreditation from ABET.
The farmer’s market is returning this fall to Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 28 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Ziegler Commons located outside of the Olmsted Building.
Open to the community, the market’s vendors include Strites' Orchards and FreshaPeel Hummus!, offering fresh produce and products. Additional vendors may also participate.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 27, O Street, which runs in front of the campus Capital Union Building, will close.
The closure will coincide with the replacement of campus heating lines. The road will remain closed until the construction is completed – currently projected for October. The handicapped parking spaces adjacent to the Capital Union Building and the sidewalk will remain open during the project.
Dr. Maya Angelou, celebrated poet, educator, and civil rights activist, will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Forum in Harrisburg, Pa. as part of Penn State Harrisburg’s 2012 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Lecture Series. Penn State Harrisburg has received a leadership gift commitment of $1 million from Russell E. Horn Sr., a 1933 Penn State graduate in engineering, to support the construction of a student enrichment center on the Harrisburg campus. The new facility will centralize and enhance a variety of crucial student services.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education notified Penn State President Rodney Erickson on Aug. 8 that it has issued the University an accreditation warning based on information contained in the Freeh Report and the binding consent decree with the NCAA. The commission also stressed that Penn State’s accreditation remains intact.
