Graduate school information session for current students Jan. 24

Penn State Harrisburg will hold a Graduate School Information Session for current students who are juniors and seniors, Thursday, Jan. 24 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the Oliver LaGrone Cultural Arts Center.

The session will offer the opportunity to learn about the college’s more than 30 graduate programs; meet with faculty; and obtain admission requirements and financial aid information. RSVP preferred, but not required.

That’s when the 39-year-old Landisburg resident will start her nurse residency program at Penn State Hershey Medical Center Cancer Institute.   

Conserve energy

Conserve energy on campus this holiday

The Penn State Harrisburg Office of Physical Plant is asking staff, faculty, and students to help conserve energy resources over the holiday break.

Building temperatures will be reduced starting on the evening of Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 until the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. While some heating can be centrally controlled, everyone on campus is asked to do their part by unplugging or turning off equipment as they leave campus.

Witf executive delivered commencement address

Kathleen Pavelko, president and CEO of witf, delivered Penn State Harrisburg’s fall 2012 commencement address on Saturday, Dec. 22. The college conferred more than 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the ceremony, which began at 9:30 a.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.

Choir to accompany Grammy winner Rita Coolidge

The Penn State Harrisburg choir will accompany two-time Grammy Award winning vocalist Rita Coolidge on Friday, Dec. 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Sunoco Performance Theater of Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, located in downtown Harrisburg.

The choir is directed by Dr. Adam Gustafson, instructor of music.

Ansary named senior associate dean for academic affairs

Dr. Omid Ansary has been named senior associate dean for academic affairs, after a national search for this senior leadership position at Penn State Harrisburg. The appointment becomes effective immediately. Dr. Ansary has served as the interim senior associate dean since July 2010.
