Penn State Harrisburg recently honored students for accomplishments in academics, service, and leadership at the 2015 Student Awards Ceremony.

Dr. David Witwer, professor of history in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, received a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends Award. The award will fund Witwer’s new and original research for his next book project in the summer of 2015.

Ten residence halls at Penn State Harrisburg are being renamed as recommended by the Facilities Naming Committee and presented to the Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning.

The residence halls, formerly numeric names, now share names with bodies of water that connect to the Susquehanna River, which runs adjacent to campus.

Penn State Harrisburg will hold its spring commencement on Sunday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Giant Center, Hershey.  More than 785 degrees will be conferred at the ceremony.

Engineering students will display innovative technologies representing the future of their field at Penn State Harrisburg’s fourth annual Engineering Capstone Design Conference on Friday, May 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at various locations on campus.

James R. Hoehn, regional president of the Central Pennsylvania region for PNC Bank, will deliver the keynote address.  As regional president, Hoehn is responsible for overseeing all business and management with an emphasis on the wealth management and corporate banking businesses.

Undergraduate students in Penn State Harrisburg’s English program have recently seen much success for their creative works and articles. 

Penn State Harrisburg will recognize the TE Connectivity Foundation for its donation of four state-of-the-art 3D printers to the college’s engineering labs totaling $25,000 at an event on May 1 at 11 a.m. on the second floor of the Educational Activities Building on campus.

Penn State Harrisburg graduate student, Tam Nguyen, of Vietnam is featured in the documentary film, "Red Over The Rainbow," detailing the rise of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community in Vietnam.  The film will have its U.S. premiere on Thursday, April 30 at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., at Penn State Harrisburg, in the Oliver LaGrone Cultural Arts Center - W132 Olmsted Building.

A new book by Dr. Robin Veder, associate professor of humanities and art history in the Penn State Harrisburg School of Humanities, titled The Living Line: Modern Art and the Economy of Energy, has been published by the Dartmouth College Press and the University Press of New England.
