Congrats to Zaine Roberts, who published an online brief report in the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 56 – Trauma Psychology division bulletin. The article provides an overview of religiosity, spirituality, and wellbeing in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and is co-authored by his research advisor.

Zaine Roberts and Mia-Megan Foo presented research at the PEDs conference at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. Kristin DeLeeuw (Class of 2023), Dominique Streater (Class of 2023), Qing Ma (Class of 2022), and Karen Charleston (undergraduate class of 2023) presented a symposium at the American Psychological Association alongside Drs. Winkeljohn Black and Strickland. Their symposium discussed results from their recent study on how refugee resettlement volunteers’ cultural responsiveness and spiritual processes impact their approach to volunteering with diverse groups.

Adrianna “Nikki” Richards
Adrianna Richards was awarded first place in social & behavioral sciences at the Penn State 34th Annual Graduate Exhibition for her project, Childhood Physical Abuse, Sexual Trauma, and Subsequent Satisfaction with Life.
She also received second place honors at Penn State Harrisburg’s 1st annual Three Minute Thesis competition for her presentation, Experiences of Intersectional Discrimination, Perceived Discrimination, Depression, and Anxiety. Richards presented Spiritual Disclosure and Relational Spirituality in College Students with Dr. Gina Brelsford, invited presenter, at the Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality at the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 36 Mid-Year Conference.
She presented her project, Childhood Physical Abuse, Sexual Trauma, and Subsequent Satisfaction with Life, at Penn State Harrisburg’s Research Week in April 2019. Richards has also served as a graduate research assistant for the Assessment Team at CARES Lab, BaSICS with Dr. Martha Wadsworth and for Dr. Gina Brelsford’s Psychology of Religion and Spirituality lab at Penn State Harrisburg.

Richards also worked as a co-author on a project that was accepted for presentation at the Society for Community Research & Action biennial conference in summer 2019.
