Harrisburg athletics communicators win design awards

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Thomas Klemick, Penn State Harrisburg director of athletic communications, and Kendis Butler, assistant director of athletic communications, received five awards from College Sports Communicators for excellence in creative and digital design.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the work we do to highlight Penn State Harrisburg’s athletic programs and the accomplishments of our student athletes and coaches,” Klemick said.

The awards garnered by Klemick and Butler are:

  • Designer of the Year in the Best of Division III, for a portfolio of work from the 2023-24 athletic seasons.
  • Fifth in the nation for Designer of the Year in the College Division.
  • Best of Division III in the Non-Game Day Graphics category, for a graphic on softball player Madelyn Lehigh becoming all-time hits leader.
  • Sixth in the nation in the College Division, Non-Game Day Graphics.
  • Best of Division III for the spring softball schedule poster.

“These honors for Tom Klemick and Kendis Butler are well-deserved,” said Rahsaan Carlton, director of athletics for Penn State Harrisburg. “We appreciate the hard work that goes into supporting our athletic programs and are proud to see those efforts recognized.” 

The competition drew more than 1,600 entries this year, according to the United East Conference.
