MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Penn State Harrisburg’s ice hockey club team recently won its first Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) National Division Championship and will advance to the AAU College Hockey Nationals.

The team took the DVCHC National Division Championship with a 6-2 win over Neumann University on Feb. 25. It was the first championship win for the team, which joined the conference in 2014-15.

Two team members were honored for their performance this season: Jake Stasyk was named DVCHC National Division Most Valuable Player, and Evan Barela was named DVCHC National Division Defenseman of the Year. In addition, head coach Chris Moore was named DVCHC National Division Coach of the Year for the second straight year.

The team now heads to the AAU College Hockey Nationals starting on March 8 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Penn State Harrisburg will play three pool play games March 8-10, to see if they will advance in the competition.

This marks the Penn State Harrisburg ice hockey team’s fourth consecutive trip to a national championship.
