GPAApplicants to the Ph.D. program in Engineering and Computing Systems are required to have completed a bachelor's degree in engineering from an institution holding accreditation as outlined in GCAC-301 Qualifications for Admission, with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale).
EducationApplicants are required to have completed a master’s degree in engineering or another STEM field.

Note that applicants with a bachelor’s degree from a non-engineering STEM field may be admitted on a provisional basis pending successful completion of specific engineering core courses per recommendation of the admissions committee for the program.

  • A personal statement sharing relevant experience and goals

  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • International students must provide test scores as required by the Graduate School 
Initial Faculty Advisor AgreementApplicants are strongly urged to identify a potential faculty advisor in SSET at the initial stages of their program based on mutual interest in the research area the applicant may work on. Having secured an initial agreement from a faculty member is a factor in the overall admission review. A student may request a change of advisor at a later time if during their initial interactions they determine that their research interests do not match as they initially perceived.
