Transfer Students

"We welcome students who have earned high school diplomas or the equivalent and who have attempted at least 18 semester credits at other regionally accredited colleges or universities."

Transfer students have been an important part of Penn State Harrisburg from the college's beginnings. In fact, since it first opened its doors in 1966 up until 2000, Penn State Harrisburg only admitted transfer students, upperclassmen, and graduate students.

This strong tradition continues today: hundreds of transfer students join the Penn State Harrisburg community each year. Whether you are transferring from a two-year community college, a four-year college or university, or you have military credits, Penn State Harrisburg works hard to make the transfer process as smooth and seamless as possible.

The Transfer Student FAQ should answer your questions about transferring current coursework, meeting program prerequisites and requirements, managing timelines, or just the transfer process itself, but if not, please don't hesitate to contact the Admissions office. We're here to help!

Raise Me

Students who enroll at Pennsylvania Community Colleges and transfer to Penn State Commonwealth campuses can earn a baccalaureate degree at considerable savings.

You can save thousands of dollars in Penn State tuition annually by enrolling at one of Penn State’s 19 Commonwealth campus, and by adding a RaiseMe award, you can earn up to a maximum of $7,000 more over two years of enrollment at Penn State.

The best part – you can start earning your Penn State RaiseMe scholarship while you are working toward graduation at a community college. Earn micro-scholarships for things you’re already doing – getting good grades, participating in co-curricular activities, volunteering in your community, and more. When you transfer to Penn State, your micro-scholarships will be converted to a Penn State scholarship.
