In October, the Continuous Improvement Commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation continued the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation for teacher education programs in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education.
Penn State Harrisburg was recently honored by the Penn State Alumni Association during the Annual Volunteer Awards Dinner on October 24 at University Park.
Dr. Erin Miller, assistant professor of psychology in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education, will present a discussion titled, “The Acquired Capability for Suicide: What It Is, What It Isn’t, and Why It Matters” on Wednesday, November 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.
Penn State Harrisburg and Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) will join with Carlisle Construction, Phoenix Contact, and Civil Air Patrol 306 to sponsor the fourth South Central PA Robotics Competition on Nov. 15 at 8:15 a.m. at Penn State Harrisburg in the Educational Activities Building.
The Penn State Harrisburg Capital Players will present “Evil Dead the Musical” November 6-8 and 14-15 in Room 204 of the new Educational Activities Building addition. All performances will begin at 7 pm. except the November 8 performance, which will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5.
As part of Penn State Harrisburg’s Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies speaker series, Pennsylvania State Sen. Robert Teplitz, who represents the 15th senatorial district, will be the keynote presenter on the panel discussion titled “Holocaust Curriculum and Secondary Education in Pennsylvania” on Thursday, November 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the library Morrison Gallery.
Dr. Gloria B. Clark, associate professor of humanities and Spanish in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, will present a discussion titled, “Juan Ruiz de Alarcón: Voicing Disability in Early Modern Spain” on Wednesday, November 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.
Emilia Yang, a communications graduate student and Nicaragua native currently living in Harrisburg, received the Top Student Paper award and Kappa Tau Alpha research award in the Communication and Technology division at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) 2014 annual convention in Montreal, Canada.
Penn State Harrisburg will welcome Susan Russell, associate professor of theatre and Penn State laureate for 2014-15, on November 10 at 2 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge.
Russell will present a discussion titled “Dignity: Changing Comments into Contributions" and meet with students.
