Faculty seminar to focus on artificial intelligence

The final 2008 installment in the Penn State Harrisburg Faculty Seminar Series will feature a presentation by Professor of Information Systems Parag Pendharkar Wednesday, Dec. 3 at noon in the Gallery Lounge.

Dr. Pendharkar’s presentation will focus on artificial intelligence, decision support, and software engineering. A light lunch will be provided

College choir’s fall concert December 9

Penn State Harrisburg’s choir has invited the Middletown Area High School Choraliers to share its stage when the college hosts its annual fall concert December 9.

Heard on campus – the innocence of Ray Krone

Dover, Pa., native Ray Krone told everyone he was innocent. For 10 years, few believed him.

But through two trials, a death sentence, and a decade of wrongful imprisonment, he never quit.

The 100 th former death row inmate freed because of innocence since the reinstatement of capital punishment in 1976, Krone brought his passionate and thought-provoking quest for reform in the criminal justice system to Penn State Harrisburg’s Gallery Lounge November 20.

‘Auction Block to Hip Hop’ performance Dec. 1

The hit off-Broadway play, “Auction Block to Hip Hop,” comes to Penn State Harrisburg’s Olmsted Auditorium for a single performance Monday, Dec. 1.

Penn State Harrisburg faculty member earns national accolade

Penn State Harrisburg faculty member Shaun Gabbidon’s pioneering research and scholarship in the field of criminal justice has earned him another national accolade.

For his "outstanding work in the field of racial and ethnic issues in criminology," the Professor of Criminal Justice has been named the winner of the W.E.B. Du Bois Award presented annually by the Western Society of Criminology.

Criminal justice lecture to focus on Flashpoints model

A presentation on the Flashpoints model and public order policing in Australia comes to Penn State Harrisburg November 18 at noon in the Special Events Room. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The presenter, Dr. Christine Jennett from the College of the Arts at the University of Western Sydney, will use the theory of internal colonialism to discuss the limits and possibilities of applying the Flashpoints model of public order policing to events in Australia.

Teacher Education Unit earns national accreditation

Penn State Harrisburg’s commitment to achieve national accreditation of its professional academic programs whenever the opportunity exists has reached an historic milestone.

The college has just been informed that its Teacher Education Unit, which consists of undergraduate and graduate programs, has earned full accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
