Holly McKenna, swim instructor at Penn State Harrisburg, recently took on one of the most daunting physical challenges in the world, a swim across the English Channel, in an effort to raise funds for two charities close to her heart.
McKenna, pictured here with husband Andrew, said that she is proud of her swim. "In extreme sports we don’t always get perfect days, perfect weather or perfect conditions, and the bigger the adventure, the bigger the risks.”
Although she did not complete the swim, McKenna is determined to try again,“My adventure is not done and I plan to return and try again, because I believe in dreaming big and fighting for the causes that are so close to my heart."

The Penn State Harrisburg library was awarded a Gold Star by PA Forward and the Pennsylvania Library Association for the second quarter of 2019 for activities that promote five essential literacies: basic; civic and social; health; information; and financial. This makes the Penn State Harrisburg library one of five academic libraries and 30 libraries total in Pennsylvania that have been awarded a star.
