Penn State Harrisburg’s economic impact surpasses $135 million

Harrisburg, Pa. — Penn State's impact extends well beyond its teaching and research. In fact, Penn State is Pennsylvania's largest economic engine, generating more than $17 billion a year in overall economic impact and supporting more than 67,000 jobs.  Penn State Harrisburg was responsible for $135.1 million of that amount and a direct employment impact of 656 jobs coupled with an indirect impact of 780 more.

Spring concert to feature the CD Singers

Penn State Harrisburg’s Capital College Choir will share the stage with The CD Singers of Central Dauphin High School April 28 when the college hosts its annual spring concert with the theme of “I Hear America Singing.”

Final diversity series lecture to feature Dauphin County judge

Dauphin County Judge Jeannine Turgeon will make the final presentation in Penn State Harrisburg’s year-long Diversity Lecture Series April 21.

Turgeon will deliver her lecture focusing on diverse issues in judicial affairs at noon in the Gallery Lounge of the Olmsted Building. The discussion is free and open to the public. For information, phone 717-948-6180.

David C. Han, M.D.

David C. Han to deliver commencement keynote

The current and 75th president of the Penn State Alumni Association, David C. Han, M.D., will deliver the keynote address at Penn State Harrisburg’s May 16 commencement ceremonies.

The college will confer more than 500 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the ceremonies which begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Giant Center, Hershey.

Writing can be good for your health, a Penn State Harrisburg researcher contends.

Assistant Professor of English Composition and Humanities Julie Kearney profiled more than 20 years of research in a recent seminar on campus entitled “Writing, Learning, Healing: Some Unconscious Aspects of Communications.”

Criminal Justice major among first to gain national certification

Penn State Harrisburg’s respected resident undergraduate Criminal Justice major is among the first in the nation to earn certification from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

The resident major joins those at the University of Baltimore and Fayetteville State University in North Carolina as the select three to be endorsed by ACJS in its first year of national certification.
