Penn State Center for Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Industry (AIMI) fellow Jeremy Blum researches the use of generative artificial intelligence systems in contest programming. Blum, associate professor of computer science at Penn State Harrisburg, has worked in contest programming for 10-plus years and is now working with students to lowering barriers to increase participation by using ChatGPT and systems alike.
Dinesh Pai, associate professor of supply chain management in Penn State Harrisburg's School of Business Administration, has received an award from the Northeastern Decision Sciences Institute for his service as the organization’s president.
The Sustainable Labs Program provides educational support and networking opportunities to labs across Penn State, helping them implement changes to become more energy and resource efficient. Actions taken by participating labs are estimated to result in over $155,000 in savings for the University and reduce about 490 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Penn State Harrisburg began participating in the Penn State chapter of EnvironMentors in 2019. The program links a high school student with an undergraduate student mentor and a faculty mentor for an environmentally themed research project that takes place over the course of the academic year.
