Meister to discuss top traits in professional development April 10

Dr. Denise G. Meister, professor of education and chair of the college’s Teacher Education programs, will discuss research from her paper, “Experienced Secondary Teachers’ Perceptions of Engagement and Effectiveness: A Guide for Professional Development” on April 10 at noon in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge. The presentation is open to the public.

Undergraduate Open House April 13

Penn State Harrisburg will host an Undergraduate Open House on Saturday, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. in the Capital Union Building.

The event will present information to prospective students about the college’s more than 30 bachelor’s degree programs and options for completing the first two years of study leading to more than 160 undergraduate majors offered throughout Penn State.

Construction will close parts of College Avenue and O Street by the Capital Union Building and Education Activity Building.

Campus road closures starting April 5

Portions of College Avenue and O Street will close on Friday, April 5 while a manhole and sewer line are installed as part of the Educational Activities Building (EAB) expansion. The roads are expected to reopen on Wednesday, April 10.

Commemorative bench in honor of Dr. Howard Sachs

Memorial bench honors Dr. Sachs

A commemorative bench has been purchased in memory of Dr. Howard Sachs, former professor of biology, educator, administrator, scientist, and friend of Penn State Harrisburg. Dr. Sachs served the college from 1987 to 2011. He died in 2011.

Panel discussion to explore online privacy and piracy

Penn State Harrisburg faculty and staff will review online privacy implications and strategies for personal protection during a panel discussion “Privacy and Piracy While Connected: The Cloud, Smartphones, and Social Media” on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at noon in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge. Part of the college’s Academic Perspectives on Current Events series, this event is free and open to the public.
