The St. Baldrick's Foundation will give researcher Dr. Sinisa Dovat $5,000 to mentor a young investigator in pediatric cancer research this summer. The foundation’s Summer Fellow grant provides funding for a medical school or college student to work in a pediatric oncology research lab for one summer.

Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “The Other Side” spring 2019 contest winners included 11 student honorees, three faculty/staff honorees, and one local middle school student honoree. Each of the four Libraries Short Stories Editorial Board winners and the People’s Choice winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card. All winners and honorable mentions will have their stories placed on the Libraries’ Short Edition short story dispensers.
Penn State Harrisburg has received a gift of $250,000 from the John Crain Kunkel Foundation to expand the college’s career services office, which will be renamed the John Crain Kunkel Career Center. New data from the Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg illustrates Pennsylvanians' views on the state’s opioid crisis. Utilizing responses from Pennsylvania adults from the center’s Lion Poll conducted in fall 2018, the data shows that half of Pennsylvanians know someone who has been addicted to opioids. Younger adults were more likely to know someone who has been addicted to opioids.

Gabbidon, distinguished professor of criminal justice in the School of Public Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg, was recently honored with the 2019 Academy Fellow Award at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Award Luncheon on April 4 in Baltimore, Maryland. Fewer than 40 scholars have received this distinction.
