If you are not an English major but you love to write stories, novels, screenplays, poems, and creative nonfiction, then consider pursuing this minor which is tailored toward potential authors who have a side interest in writing, publishing, and promoting writers through literary citizenship. Employers in science, business, and technology value creative problem solving and advanced communication skills. Students in this minor will practice these skills through introductory courses specific to fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, followed by advanced workshop courses in the student's preferred genre. Students will have the opportunity to add publication credits to their resumes, or gain experience in editing manuscripts and promoting creative writing publications or events. Completing this minor could enhance careers in marketing and design, management, and non-profit work.
