Students, graduate, faculty members to present at conference

Eight Penn State Harrisburg graduate students, one recent graduate, and two faculty members will be among the scholars discussing their current research at the annual conference of the Middle Atlantic American Studies Association March 30 and 31 in Baltimore.

This year’s conference, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, is being jointly conducted with the Chesapeake American Studies Association.

‘Women in Society’ returns March 20 through 22

In observance of Women’s History Month, the public "Women in Society" series of events returns to Penn State Harrisburg March 20 through March 22.

Hosted and organized by the college Liaison Committee to the University Commission for Women, the series offers a variety of events ranging from a book signing, free health screenings, personal safety awareness, and a panel discussion featuring alumni. All events are free and open to the public.

"Boobies Ball" March 23 to fund cancer awareness

A "Boobies Ball" to fund cancer awareness and research is coming to Penn State Harrisburg Friday, March 23.

Sponsored by the student Lion Ambassador organization on campus, the 9 p.m. to midnight dance in the Capital Union Building, all proceeds will be donated to the Middletown-based "Feel Your Boobies" Foundation.

The cost is $7 for adults or $5 for students with a valid college ID. Music will be provided by a local DJ.

Ninth graders to receive information on science and math careers

Ninth graders from area high schools will receive an in-depth look at careers related to math and science when Penn State Harrisburg hosts the first Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Career Launch (STEM) on Thursday, March 15.

The program is designed to provide the students with an understanding of the course work and requirements and to encourage higher education study in mathematics and science related areas.

‘National treasure’ performs on campus March 26

Called a "national treasure" by author and oral historian Studs Terkel, Anndrena Belcher brings her acclaimed storytelling performance to Penn State Harrisburg Monday, March 26.

Belcher’s two presentations are free and open to the public at 11 a.m. in the Olmsted Auditorium and at 6:15 p.m. in the Morrison Gallery of the campus library.
