Contributions recognize Charles Cole's distinguished service

For 35 years, Dr. Charles A. Cole was at the forefront of environmental education at Penn State Harrisburg - and throughout the nation and the world.

School of Science, Engineering, and Technology director, professor, Fullbright recipient, trainer, and sought-after consultant, Dr. Cole concluded distinguished service to Penn State Harrisburg and the University this summer with his retirement as professor emeritus.

Alumni Society hands out annual awards

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller, the late Harrisburg businessman and philanthropist John O. Vartan, and the president and CEO of UGI Utilities David Trego were among the graduates honored at Penn State Harrisburg's Alumni Awards Banquet Friday, Oct. 19.

College participating in Toys for Tots campaign

Penn State Harrisburg is again participating in the annual Toys for Tots campaign in conjunction with the Harrisburg office of the U.S. Marine and Naval Reserve Center.

Collection bins for the campaign, which runs from November 2 through December 8, will be placed throughout campus for donations of new or gently used toys. Bins will be located in Olmsted Building, the Capital Union Building, Bookstore, and the library on campus.

Program fund created in honor of Clifford Jones

Since the creation of Penn State Harrisburg in 1966, Clifford Jones has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the college and its students.

That indispensible legacy is being honored through the newly established Cliff Jones Program Fund for Good Government, announced at the October Alumni Awards banquet.

Holocaust survivor's poetry and story come to campus Nov. 1

Several years ago, Gail Rosen committed herself to keeping the poetry and story of Holocaust survivor Hilda Stern Cohen alive.

Rosen, a professional storyteller from Baltimore, brings her performance entitled “For Tomorrow: the Story and Poetry of Hilda Stern Cohen” to Penn State Harrisburg Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:15 p.m. in the Morrison Gallery of the library.

College team to compete in regional computer programming contest

A team of Penn State Harrisburg students is sharpening its skills in preparation for competition in the world’s most prestigious computer programming competition.

The students from Penn State Harrisburg will challenge teams from nine other colleges and universities Saturday, Oct. 27 in the regional contest of the 32 nd ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest sponsored by IBM at Shippensburg University.
