The interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Methods and Applications Bachelor of Science program blends hands-on learning with foundational theory to prepare students for careers in the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence (AI). Students will build strong skills in programming, machine learning, AI problem-solving, and the ethical development of AI systems. The curriculum also encourages integration with other fields like human-computer interaction, data science, psychology and cognitive science, social sciences, public policy, and law.
Grounded in these diverse perspectives, the program emphasizes building intelligent systems that are not only technically sound but also socially responsible. In their final year, students will complete a two-semester capstone or research project, gaining real-world experience that prepares them for impactful work in a variety of industries.
Throughout the program, students will sharpen both their technical and human-centered skills, learning how to:
Apply core AI techniques to problem-solving, decision-making, natural language processing, and system design
Work with real-world constraints like uncertainty, incomplete data, and changing user needs
Design, deploy, and manage AI in ethical, responsible ways
Collaborate across disciplines and apply AI in broader contexts
Communicate clearly about the opportunities and risks of AI to different audiences
This program cultivates the mindset and skills students need not just to work with AI - but to lead in shaping its future.
