Oscar Cartagena Jr. recently received his bachelor’s degree in humanities and communications as a member of Penn State Harrisburg’s Class of 2020. He said that as a member of the college’s men’s soccer team, he had to maintain a challenging balance between academics and athletics. “Even though it was demanding, I was still able to achieve the dean's list every semester as a student athlete,” he said.
Cartagena said that one of his biggest achievements while at Penn State Harrisburg was winning the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference with his teammates. “I was able to be a part of history and help the program win its very first collegiate conference and qualify for the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Tournament,” he added.
Cartagena said that Penn State Harrisburg has allowed him to fulfill many personal dreams such as earning a degree at a prestigious institution and winning a collegiate title. He plans to return to the college as a Bunton-Waller graduate assistant as he pursues a master's degree in communications.
